Carolina Herrera is a Venezuelan fashion designer who founded her self-titled fashion house in 1980. Born María Carolina Josefina Pacanins y Niño on January 8, 1939, in Caracas, Venezuela, she began her fashion career later in life, initially gaining recognition as a socialite known for her impeccable style.

Herrera's entry into the fashion world was catalyzed by numerous prominent figures, including legendary editor Diana Vreeland, who encouraged her to start her own line. She presented her first runway show in New York City in 1981, quickly becoming a favorite among the elite. Herrera expanded her brand with the launch of her first fragrance, simply named "Carolina Herrera," in 1988.
