Marni

Marni is an avant-garde luxury fashion house established in 1994 by Consuelo Castiglioni in Milan, Italy. Known for its eclectic, innovative, and often avant-garde designs, the brand quickly established itself as a distinctive force within the fashion industry. Castiglioni originally launched Marni as a subsidiary of her family’s fur business, Ciwifurs. Her intention was to experiment with fur, making it modern and wearable, contrasting against its then rather staid image.

Throughout its history, Marni has been recognized for its vivid colors, clashing prints, and an artful approach to textiles and design. Its unconventional style and dedication to artisanal craftsmanship have garnered a dedicated global following. From the very beginning, Marni's collections featured an array of textures and offbeat silhouettes, creating a signature look that set it apart from other brands. The early success of the brand was propelled by collections that challenged fashion norms, incorporating eclectic combinations of materials and colors.

A turning point came in 2002 when Marni expanded its reach by launching its first online store, making it one of the pioneers in luxury fashion e-commerce. In 2012, Castiglioni stepped down as Creative Director, passing the baton to Francesco Risso, who had previously worked with Prada. Risso's tenure has seen Marni continuing its legacy of bold and artistic innovation, while also branching out into new product lines and collaborations.

Under Risso’s direction, the brand has ventured into menswear and introduced accessories and footwear collections, further diversifying its portfolio. In recent years, Marni has collaborated with various artists and brands, including a notable partnership with Uniqlo in 2022, which brought its distinct aesthetic to a broader audience. Today, Marni remains a symbol of creativity and daring design in the luxury fashion industry, continuously pushing boundaries and exploring new frontiers.
