Galerie Buchholz is a renowned contemporary art gallery with locations in Cologne, Berlin, and New York. The gallery was founded in 1986 by Daniel Buchholz and has since established itself as a significant player in the international art scene. The gallery's history can be traced back to the early 20th century, when Daniel Buchholz's grandfather, Richard Buchholz, purchased a shipyard in Greifswald, Germany. This shipyard, which was constructed in 1911, played a significant role in the region's shipping and shipbuilding tradition. Richard Buchholz's purchase of the shipyard marked the beginning of a long history of maritime industry in the region.

In 1990, Daniel Buchholz founded HanseYachts AG, a company that would become one of the biggest manufacturers of seagoing, series-produced sailing and motor yachts. HanseYachts AG now encompasses six brands and has continued to expand its product portfolio to include motorboat brands such as RYCK Yachts, which was founded in 2021.

While Daniel Buchholz's ventures in the maritime industry were successful, his true passion lay in contemporary art. In 1986, he founded Galerie Buchholz, which quickly gained a reputation for promoting and exhibiting cutting-edge contemporary art. The gallery's first location was in Cologne, but it soon expanded to include locations in Berlin and New York.

Galerie Buchholz has exhibited the work of many notable contemporary artists, including Lukas Duwenhogger, whose work is featured on the gallery's website.
