Jousse Entreprise
Jousse Entreprise is a renowned French gallery specializing in both architect furniture and contemporary art, with a rich history that dates back to the 1980s. The gallery was founded by Philippe Jousse, who initially worked in the field of photography before developing a passion for post-war furniture. In the early 1980s, Jousse began promoting overlooked artists from that period, such as Jean Prouvé, Charlotte Perriand, Alexandre Noll, and Jean Royère, among others.
In 1987, Jousse organized the first retrospective exhibition of Charlotte Perriand's work, which marked a significant milestone in his career. This event not only showcased his commitment to promoting modernity in furniture design but also established his role in shaping the tastes of private collectors and museums. Over the years, Jousse Entreprise has continued to play an essential role in the development of modern furniture appreciation, representing both established and emerging artists in the field.
In the 1990s, Jousse Entreprise expanded its focus to include contemporary art, representing young French and foreign artists in their 30s. This dual interest in furniture and art led to the opening of a new gallery in 2000, where the gallery became a bridge between object creation and art, challenging the perception of these spheres as different or contradictory.
