Xippas Galleries
Xippas Galleries, established in 1990 by Renos Xippas, is a notable chain of contemporary art galleries with spaces in Paris, Geneva, Montevideo, and Punta del Este. Renos Xippas, a visionary art dealer, founded the first gallery in Paris, located in the Marais district, a vibrant area known for its rich cultural history.
In the ensuing years, Xippas expanded its presence internationally, beginning with the opening of the second gallery in Geneva in 1995. This strategic move marked its initial step towards becoming a significant entity in the global art scene. Subsequently, the gallery further extended its reach to South America by inaugurating branches in Uruguay's capital Montevideo, and the resort city of Punta del Este in 2018, showcasing its strategic adaptability and commitment to nurturing contemporary art in diverse cultural contexts.
Xippas Galleries are known for their extensive representation of both established and emerging artists, facilitating a dynamic dialogue within the contemporary art world. Their roster includes distinguished artists such as Takis, an influential Greek sculptor known for his magnetic sculptures, and Yves Zurstrassen, a Belgian artist celebrated for his abstract paintings. This diverse lineup has played a crucial role in establishing Xippas Galleries' reputation as a credible and influential platform for modern artistic expressions.
The galleries have held numerous significant exhibitions that reflect their dedication to cutting-edge contemporary art. Notable exhibitions include the recurring “Cabinet Da-End,” an eclectic annual event in Paris that bridges the worlds of contemporary art and curiosities, and solo exhibitions by prominent figures in contemporary art.
