Born in Newarthill, North Lanarkshire, Scotland, Kane honed his skills at Central Saint Martins, one of the most prestigious fashion schools in the world, graduating in 2006. His graduation collection, which featured neon elastomeric bandage dresses, caught the eye of Donatella Versace, leading to a collaborative opportunity with Versace's brand, Versus.

From the outset, Kane's brand distinguished itself with bold designs, melding innovative fabrics with unconventional ideas. His early collections featured a distinctive use of bright colors and fabrics such as neon, lace, and velvet, each receiving critical acclaim.
