Lemaire
Lemaire is a celebrated French fashion brand, known for its minimalist aesthetic and timeless designs. Established by Christophe Lemaire and Sarah-Linh Tran, the brand has roots dating back to the early 1990s. Christophe Lemaire began his career in fashion by working with established designers such as Yves Saint Laurent and Thierry Mugler, before creating his own label.
In 1990, Lemaire launched his namesake line, garnering a following for his understated and versatile pieces. The brand's philosophy revolves around creating garments that transcend seasonal trends, prioritizing quality, craftsmanship, and functionality. This focus has remained consistent throughout its history, allowing Lemaire to maintain a loyal client base and critical acclaim.
A significant period in the brand's history came in 2000 when Christophe Lemaire became the artistic director of Lacoste, where he stayed until 2010. During his tenure, he successfully revitalized Lacoste’s image, blending the brand’s sporty heritage with his own refined aesthetic. Following this, in 2010, Lemaire took on the role of artistic director at Hermès, another landmark in his career. At Hermès, he introduced collections that were well-received for their timeless elegance and meticulous attention to detail.
In 2014, Lemaire and Tran united their creative forces, marking a new chapter for the Lemaire brand. This collaboration led to a relaunch under the simplified name, Lemaire, emphasizing their shared vision. Throughout its history, Lemaire has remained true to its core values, producing clothing that resonates with those who appreciate subtle sophistication and enduring style.
