Maurizio Galante

Maurizio Galante, born on February 10, 1963, in Latina, Italy, has established himself as a significant figure in the fashion and design industries. His journey commenced in the early 1980s when he moved to Rome to study architecture at the Università La Sapienza. However, his innate passion for fashion design soon led him to enroll in the Accademia di Costume e di Moda in Rome, where he graduated in 1986.

Galante's career took a pivotal turn in 1988 when he launched his first women's ready-to-wear collection under his eponymous label. The collection was well-received, showcasing his unique blend of architectural precision and innovative fabric manipulation. This early success paved the way for his debut at AltaRoma, Rome's renowned haute couture week, where he quickly became a celebrated name.

In 1993, Galante moved to Paris, the epicenter of fashion, and there he continued to build his brand. By 1997, he had achieved official recognition when he was invited to present his collections during Paris Haute Couture Week. His designs, characterized by their sculptural forms and meticulous craftsmanship, earned him membership in the exclusive Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture in 2008. This prestigious position solidified his place among the world's foremost couture designers.

Beyond fashion, Galante's creative pursuits have extended to interior design, product design, and conceptual projects. His collaboration with Cerruti Baleri in 2003 on "Anemone," a series of innovative chairs and sofas, showcased his versatility. Furthermore, in 2010, Galante joined forces with designer Tal Lancman, cultivating a partnership that broadened his creative horizons across multiple disciplines.

Galante's work has been exhibited in major museums and galleries worldwide, including the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and the Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris. His contributions to design have been recognized with numerous awards, including France’s Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres in 2009.
