Julie De Libran

Julie de Libran is a distinguished French fashion designer known for her unique blend of French elegance and contemporary sensibility. Born in Aix-en-Provence and raised in the south of France and the United States, De Libran’s multicultural upbringing significantly shaped her aesthetic vision. She began her formal education at l'Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne, followed by advanced studies at Central Saint Martins in London, an institution renowned for producing some of the industry's most famed designers.

In the early stages of her career, De Libran worked at Versace, contributing to the relaunch of the brand’s couture line under Gianni Versace’s guidance. This experience was pivotal, providing her with the exposure and skills to thrive in the highly competitive world of high fashion. In 1998, she moved to Prada, where she spent a considerable part of her career and played a crucial role in developing Miu Miu’s ready-to-wear collections. Her partnership with Miuccia Prada proved to be a significant phase in her career, allowing her to hone her craft and develop a distinctive design language.

In 2014, she took on the position of artistic director at Sonia Rykiel, a storied French fashion house. During her tenure, she revitalized the brand’s identity, drawing on its rich heritage while infusing it with a modern twist. De Libran's approach at Rykiel was characterized by a lauded exploration of prints, textures, and a signature nonchalant Parisian chic, which resonated well with both critics and customers alike.

In 2019, Julie de Libran departed Sonia Rykiel and embarked on launching her eponymous label, emphasizing sustainability and craftsmanship. Her collections are known for their limited availability, often featuring hand-selected fabrics and meticulous detailing.
