Akrivia
Akrivia is a Swiss independent watchmaking brand that was founded in 2012 by master watchmaker Rexhep Rexhepi. The brand, headquartered in Geneva, was established with a mission to revive traditional watchmaking techniques while incorporating modern aesthetics and innovations. Rexhepi, originally from Kosovo, moved to Switzerland at a young age to pursue his passion for horology, training under prominent watchmakers, including renowned independent watchmaker François-Paul Journe.
Akrivia quickly gained recognition within the watchmaking community for its meticulous craftsmanship and unique designs. The name "Akrivia" is derived from the Greek word for “precision,” which aptly reflects the brand’s commitment to high standards and attention to detail. Akrivia's first collection, launched in 2013, featured timepieces that combined classical watchmaking artistry with contemporary styling, marking the brand's early exploration into intricate complications and highly finished movements.
One of the most significant milestones in the brand’s history came in 2017 when Akrivia introduced the Chronomètre Contemporain. This model was a significant departure from their earlier designs, emphasizing classical aesthetics with a modern twist. The Chronomètre Contemporain earned widespread acclaim for its superbly finished movement and the incorporation of a unique stop-seconds mechanism, an element appreciated by enthusiasts and collectors alike.
Akrivia's reputation continued to soar when Rexhepi was awarded the prestigious Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) prize for the Chronomètre Contemporain in 2018, recognizing his outstanding contributions to the field of haute horology.
