DeWitt, a distinguished Swiss watchmaker, was founded in 2003 by Jérôme de Witt, a direct descendant of Napoleon Bonaparte and King Jérôme of Westphalia. Despite its relatively recent establishment, DeWitt quickly made its mark in the luxury watchmaking industry by merging historical patina with modern innovation. The brand operates from its Geneva-based manufacture, which emphasizes an in-house approach to watchmaking, a rarity in today’s industry.

From its inception, DeWitt has been dedicated to creating exceptional timepieces characterized by mechanical complexity and aesthetic refinement. Its first collection, including the renowned Academia line, debuted in 2003, introducing the brand’s signature elements such as the imperial columns and exclusive movements. Notably, the Academia collection featured intricate designs and advanced mechanics that set the tone for the brand’s future directions.

In 2005, DeWitt received the prestigious Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève for its Academia Tourbillon Différentiel, amplifying its reputation in the haute horlogerie community. This innovative model combined the traditional tourbillon mechanism with an innovative differential system, improving the timekeeping precision.

DeWitt's commitment to mechanical excellence is further demonstrated in its Twenty-8-Eight collection, launched in 2010. This collection is named after Napoleon Bonaparte’s birthdate, August 15, 1769, symbolizing the brand’s historical connections. The Twenty-8-Eight models are known for their robust construction, versatile designs, and the use of top-tier materials.

One remarkable contribution to horological artistry is the DeWitt Concept Watch X-1, unveiled in 2015. This timepiece showcased cutting-edge technology by integrating both a patented automatic sequential winding system and a flying tourbillon.
