MCT
MCT, officially known as Manufacture Contemporaine du Temps, is a relatively new name in the horological world, founded in 2007 by Denis Giguet. Despite its recent inception, the brand has made significant strides in the realm of avant-garde watchmaking. Located in Neuchâtel, Switzerland, MCT has introduced innovations that have captivated enthusiasts and collectors alike.
One of the brand's distinguishing features is its signature prism display mechanism, first showcased in the Sequential One model released in 2008. This unique approach uses rotating prisms to indicate the hours while the minutes are displayed through a central hand. This innovative design has been widely recognized for its originality and complexity, earning accolades in the watchmaking community.
In 2011, Christian Gafner joined MCT as the new CEO, steering the company towards even greater heights with the introduction of the Sequential Two in 2014. This model retained the brand’s iconic prism-based hour display but introduced a cylindrical shape, offering a fresh perspective on the design.
MCT watches are known for their exceptional craftsmanship and intricate engineering, often described as works of art. Each timepiece is assembled with meticulous attention to detail, reflecting the brand's commitment to quality and precision. The Mechanograph, launched in 2015, epitomizes this dedication, featuring an open-worked movement that showcases the delicate intricacies of its inner workings.
The brand has also made a name for itself with limited edition releases, such as the Dōdekal One, introduced in 2018. This particular model is notable for its complex mechanism that displays the hour digitally, a first in the industry for a mechanical watch. The Dōdekal One further solidified MCT's reputation for pushing the boundaries of traditional watchmaking.
