Design Q
Design Q is a distinguished British automotive design consultancy, founded in 1997 by Gary Doy and Keith Helfet, both veterans with extensive experience in the industry. The firm has made its mark by specializing in bespoke automotive and aircraft interiors, gaining a reputation for its pioneering approach and exceptional craftsmanship.
One of the pivotal moments in the company’s history came with their collaboration with Aston Martin. In 1999, Design Q was commissioned to develop the interior for the Aston Martin DB7 Vantage Volante. This project helped the consultancy establish its presence in the high-end automotive market. Their innovative work didn't stop there; they were also instrumental in the creation of the limited edition DB7 Zagato and the Aston Martin Vanquish.
In the early 2000s, Design Q expanded its portfolio by venturing into the aerospace industry. A notable achievement was their partnership with Bombardier, the Canadian aerospace and transportation company. They collaborated on the interior design of the Bombardier Learjet 85, which featured groundbreaking interior solutions focused on comfort and luxury.
Design Q’s contributions to the industry are not limited to luxury cars and aircraft. In 2010, the company took part in Project Eagle, a government-funded initiative aimed at regenerating the British manufacturing sector. Through this project, Design Q provided critical design consultation that influenced a range of products beyond automotive and aerospace, including consumer electronics and medical devices.
In 2016, Design Q embarked on an ambitious venture by designing the VIP interior for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. This project showcased their ability to merge opulent design with cutting-edge technology, further solidifying their status as leaders in the field.
