RCR Arquitectes
RCR Arquitectes is a renowned Spanish architectural firm founded in 1988 by Rafael Aranda, Carme Pigem, and Ramon Vilalta, all of whom studied at the Vallès School of Architecture in Barcelona. Known for their innovative approach, the trio’s work emphasizes a strong connection between architecture, landscape, and local culture. The firm is based in Olot, in the Catalonian region of Spain, and has produced a significant portfolio of projects ranging from public spaces to private residences.
One of the key aspects of their architecture is the seamless integration of building and nature, often using materials like steel, stone, and glass with minimalistic designs to bring out their raw, tactile qualities. Their impressive portfolio includes iconic projects such as the Tossols-Basil Athletics Stadium, where the interplay of natural light and sloped terrain are central to the structure, and the Bell–Lloc Winery, a project that redefines agricultural architecture by using materials and forms that blend harmoniously with the vineyard landscape.
Besides their practice, RCR Arquitectes are strongly dedicated to architectural education, offering workshops and seminars at the RCR Bunka Foundation, a space created to foster creative research and thought.
