Frers Design
Frers Design, a name synonymous with excellence in yacht design, traces its origins to the works of German Frers Sr., born in 1916 Buenos Aires, Argentina. Demonstrating an innate talent for marine engineering, Frers Sr. embarked on his career in shipbuilding at a young age. By the 1940s, he had established himself as a prominent figure in the maritime industry, contributing to the creation of racing and cruising yachts that would set the standard for performance and aesthetics.
In 1983, German “Mani” Frers Jr. took the helm of the family legacy, injecting modern technology and innovative designs into the company’s already stellar reputation. His approach maintained a delicate balance between innovation and respect for traditional craftsmanship. Under his guidance, Frers Design produced yachts that combined sleek lines with cutting-edge materials, ensuring a legacy of quality and performance.
One of Frers' defining moments came in the 1980s when he collaborated with Nautor's Swan, a Finnish yacht manufacturer. This partnership resulted in a series of iconic yachts, including the Swan 51, which debuted in 1981, and the Swan 45, launched in 2001. These collaborations not only solidified Frers' influence in the world of yacht design but also showcased their mastery of blending beauty with functionality.
The 1990s saw Frers Design working with superyacht builders like Wally and Hallberg-Rassy. Their designs were renowned for their elegance and reliability, and Frers' yachts frequently dominated in prestigious racing events, including the Admiral's Cup and the America's Cup. Such accolades further cemented their status in the nautical world.
