ANDERSEN Genève
ANDERSEN Genève, a prestigious Swiss watchmaking brand, was founded by Svend Andersen, a master horologist originally from Denmark. Established in 1980, the brand quickly carved a niche for itself within the competitive landscape of haute horlogerie. Andersen had already made a name by crafting complex watches during his time at Patek Philippe, where he was part of the Grand Complications workshop.
One of Andersen's most notable early creations was the "Bottle Watch" in 1969, an innovative piece that marked his departure from Patek Philippe and the inception of his independent journey. This inventive approach continued as Andersen Genève became known for its custom-made and limited series watches that combined traditional craftsmanship with innovative design.
In 1989, the brand introduced the "Perpetual Calendar with Secular Calendar," a complex timepiece designed to accurately display the date well into the 2400s, accommodating leap years and secular calendar adjustments. This watch earned various accolades and solidified Andersen's reputation for blending intricate mechanisms with aesthetic elegance.
In 1990, Andersen launched a series of "World Time" watches, reinvigorating a concept originally popularized by Louis Cottier in the 1930s. These watches allowed the wearer to easily read the time in multiple time zones, incorporating a rotating world map and city disc, a feature highly prized by global travelers and collectors.
Adding to its repertoire of extraordinary designs, Andersen Genève has crafted several unique-themed watches. Noteworthy among these are the "Erotic Automaton" pieces that draw inspiration from the playful and slightly risqué traditions of early pocket watches.
