Domaine Faiveley

Domaine Faiveley is an illustrious name in the world of Burgundy wines, embodying centuries of rich history and sustained excellence. Established in 1825 by Pierre Faiveley in the heart of Nuits-Saint-Georges, the domaine has remained a family enterprise, passing through the hands of seven generations.

In its early years, the domaine achieved recognition for its meticulous vineyard management and pioneering approach to winemaking. By the mid-19th century, Joseph Faiveley, Pierre's son, expanded the estate significantly, acquiring prime parcels in esteemed appellations such as Gevrey-Chambertin and Pommard. This expansion laid the groundwork for what would become a Burgundy powerhouse.

The early 20th century saw the domaine flourishing under Georges Faiveley, who adeptly navigated the challenges posed by the phylloxera epidemic and the World Wars. His strategic acquisitions, including premier cru and grand cru vineyards, positioned the estate as a formidable force in Burgundy. Georges also implemented modern practices, balancing tradition with innovation.

In the latter half of the 20th century, Guy Faiveley propelled the domaine further into the limelight. Under his stewardship, Faiveley wines began to garner international acclaim, while he continued the legacy of acquiring exceptional terroirs. His efforts were instrumental in securing the estate’s vineyards in Corton, Clos Vougeot, and Chambertin-Clos de Bèze.

The baton then passed to Erwan Faiveley in 2005, marking a new era for the domaine. Erwan's tenure has been characterized by a renewed focus on precision viticulture and sustainable practices. He has fortified the family holdings by acquiring exclusive plots, enhancing the domaine's reputation for producing wines that express the nuanced character of Burgundy’s fabled terroirs.

Today, Domaine Faiveley’s extensive portfolio includes over 120 hectares of vineyards, with a significant proportion designated as premier cru and grand cru. The estate remains a cornerstone of Burgundy's viticultural heritage, consistently producing wines that are cherished by connoisseurs around the world.
