Tim Heywood
Tim Heywood, renowned for his profound influence on contemporary yacht design, has secured a prestigious position in the maritime world through both his creative prowess and dedication to innovation. This distinguished British designer embarked on his illustrious career in the early 1970s after graduating from the prestigious Central St Martins School of Art and Design in London.
Heywood initially gained prominence while working at Jon Bannenberg Ltd, under the tutelage of the eponymous yachting legend Jon Bannenberg. With Bannenberg, Heywood sharpened his skills and was involved in the conceptualization and design of over 50 revolutionary megayachts, marking the beginning of a transformative era in yacht aesthetics and functionality.
In 1996, Heywood took an independent path, establishing his own studio, Tim Heywood Designs. His solo venture swiftly garnered acclaim, highlighted by his collaboration with the German shipyard Lürssen. Together, they birthed some of the world's most awe-inspiring vessels, such as the 147-meter-long *Dilbar*, one of the largest yachts by gross tonnage, launched in 2016. *Dilbar's* mesmerizing form and luxurious features have made it an iconic figure in yachting circles.
Another extraordinary project from Heywood's portfolio is *Pelorus*, completed in 2003. The 115-meter vessel, built by Lürssen, has captivated the yachting elite with its blend of sophisticated design and state-of-the-art technology. Furthermore, the 99-meter *Madame Gu*, launched in 2013, showcased Heywood's unparalleled ability to merge robust engineering with elegant aesthetics, earning numerous accolades.
Heywood's contribution to the industry is accentuated by multiple awards, including several from Showboats International and the World Superyacht Awards. His dedication extends beyond mere design; he is actively involved in every step of the process, from conception to launch, ensuring a cohesive and meticulously crafted final product.
