Art Central

Art Central, established in 2015, is a significant event during Hong Kong Art Week, co-founded by Tim Etchells, Sandy Angus, and Will Ramsay. This annual fair has become a cornerstone of Hong Kong's visual arts landscape, recognized for its role in pushing boundaries in contemporary art and experimentation. Art Central is known for its commitment to showcasing a myriad of talents from various continents, with a particular focus on fostering and spotlighting emerging artists.

The fair features a diverse range of artworks, from paintings and sculptures to performance art, presented by galleries from around the world. In its ninth edition, Art Central hosted 98 galleries, including 11 relatively young galleries founded within the last five years. Over 500 artists were featured, with six up-and-coming talents making their debut under the Neo gallery sector, curated by Enoch Cheng.

Highlights of Art Central have included local artist Ho Sin Tung's Shadow Boxing, Prague-based Rony Plesl's glass sculptures, Nigel Howlett's surrealist yet futuristic figurative oil paintings, Wataru Yamakami's colossal two-sided painting World of the world – Sequence of presence and absence, and Sunayama Norico's performance art piece A Sultry World.

Art Central's unique identity lies in its mission to deliver the best in today's global contemporary art practice to thousands of VIPs, collectors, curators, critics, and art lovers during Hong Kong Art Week, the biggest art week within the Asia Pacific region. The fair takes place in a purpose-built structure overlooking Victoria Harbour, situated in the heart of Hong Kong's business district, making it a convenient location for visitors attending other art events in the city.
