GPHG

The Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) is a prestigious annual event established in 2001, dedicated to celebrating and promoting excellence in watchmaking. The GPHG is a public interest foundation that aims to recognize outstanding creations and key players in the global watch industry. The foundation has grown significantly in reach and influence over the years, with international exhibitions, live broadcasts of the awards ceremony, and extensive media coverage.

The GPHG awards ceremony, often referred to as the "Oscars" of the watch industry, is held in November at the Théâtre du Léman in Geneva. The event honors the best watches of the year across fifteen categories, culminating in the "Aiguille d'Or" Grand Prix, the highest distinction, akin to a "Best of Show" award.

The GPHG's annual competition includes hundreds of watches marketed during the year, showcasing the finest creations and fostering a spirit of unity within the international watchmaking profession. The event contributes to preserving and enhancing the traditions, skills, and values of Swiss and global watchmaking culture.

In addition to the awards ceremony, the GPHG organizes a series of exhibitions throughout the year, known as the GPHG World Tour. These exhibitions feature the nominated watches and offer interactive events for the public. The tour includes stops in various cities before culminating in Geneva for the awards ceremony.

In 2020, the foundation introduced the GPHG Academy, a broad-scale project involving 500 individuals from diverse backgrounds, all passionate about watchmaking and actively engaged in the industry. The academy operates on the principle of the Oscars or the French César film awards, with members able to submit their choices for watches and participate in the voting process.
