Ravinia Festival

The Ravinia Festival, established in 1904, is the oldest outdoor music festival in the United States, renowned for presenting world-class music in an inviting, natural environment. Located in Highland Park, Illinois, the festival takes place on the grounds of the 36-acre Ravinia Park, which features a variety of outdoor and indoor performing arts facilities, including the open-air pavilion that seats 3,200, the 450-seat Bennett Gordon Hall, and the historic 850-seat Martin Theatre.

The Ravinia Festival is known for its diverse range of musical genres, from classical and chamber music to jazz, rock, world music, music theater, dance, and kids' programming. Over 600,000 listeners attend more than 100 events each summer from June to September. The festival has been the summer home of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra (CSO) since 1936, showcasing the orchestra's exceptional performances and providing opportunities for young musicians to study under esteemed teachers and perform in concert settings through the Ravinia Steans Music Institute.

In addition to its commitment to music education, the Ravinia Festival also connects music to thousands of families around Chicago through multi-tiered Reach Teach Play education programs. These programs include running a community music conservatory in Lawndale and teaming working musicians with teachers to create music integration in public schools.
