AgitÁgueda Art Festival

The AgitÁgueda Art Festival, held annually in Águeda, Portugal, is a month-long celebration of art and music that showcases the richness and diversity of Portuguese culture. Established in 2006, the festival has become a significant event in the city's cultural landscape, attracting over 3,000 participants per day and contributing to the revitalization of urban areas and the promotion of local trade.

The festival's mission is not only to present established artists but also to promote new musical projects, hosting some 500 music groups and artists since its inception. The "Talentos AgitÁgueda" competition is a key initiative aimed at promoting the participation of new national artistic projects, encouraging new talents and providing them with a platform to showcase their work.

Beyond music, the festival also features a diverse range of public art installations, transforming the city into an open-air art gallery. The Umbrella Sky Project, which involves the installation of thousands of umbrellas over the city's streets, is a highlight of the festival, creating a visually striking set that is further enhanced by other urban art projects that add vibrant colours to the cityscape.

The festival also offers a variety of sports competitions, street entertainment, crafts, and other surprises, attracting a large number of tourists and making Águeda a hub of tourist attractions during the festival season. In addition to the artistic component, the festival includes training sessions and master classes for the general public, such as stencil workshops, music masterclasses, and workshops for all ages, promoting education and community involvement.
