24 Hours of Daytona

The 24 Hours of Daytona, also known as the Rolex 24 At Daytona, is a prestigious endurance race held annually at the Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida. This 24-hour sports car event takes place on a 3.56-mile (5.73 km) combined road course, which incorporates sections of the NASCAR tri-oval and an infield road course.

The race has a rich history dating back to 1962, when it was initially known as the Daytona 3 Hour Continental. Over the years, it has undergone various name changes, including the Daytona 2000, 24 Hours of Daytona, 6 Hours of Daytona, and 24 Hour Pepsi Challenge, before Rolex became the title sponsor in 1992. The event is part of Speedweeks and serves as the first major automobile race of the year in the United States, attracting some of the biggest names in motorsports.

The race's unique format tests the endurance and reliability of both drivers and cars, with teams often consisting of three drivers sharing driving duties throughout the 24-hour period. Porsche holds the record for the most overall victories by a manufacturer, having won 19 times with various models, including the 911, 935, and 996. The race is conducted entirely within the speedway arena without the use of any public streets, with most parts of the steep banking being utilized, interrupted only by a chicane on the back straight and a fast infield section that includes two hairpins.
