Abu Dhabi Grand Prix

The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is a significant event in the world of Formula One motor racing, held annually at the Yas Marina Circuit on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The circuit, designed by Hermann Tilke, is a 5.554-kilometer (3.451 mi) track that hosted its first race in 2009, becoming the first Formula One day-night race, starting at 5:00 pm local time. The floodlights used for the race ensure a seamless transition from daylight to darkness, providing consistent lighting throughout the event.

The Yas Marina Circuit is unique in its design, featuring covered and shaded grandstands throughout the facility, as well as pit lanes that run partially beneath the track. The circuit has undergone modifications, with the turn 5-6 chicane and turn 7 hairpin replaced by a single, widened hairpin, now turn 5; the triple chicane and 90-degree left-hander at turns 11-14 replaced by a single, sweeping banked curve, now turn 9; and the radiuses of turns 17-19 (now 12-14) and the penultimate turn 20 (now 15) widened to allow cars to carry more speed through the third sector.

The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix has seen repeat winners in both drivers and constructors. Drivers such as Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel have achieved multiple victories, with Hamilton winning five times and Vettel three times. Constructors like Mercedes and Red Bull have also had success, with Mercedes winning six times and Red Bull three times.

The event takes place on Yas Island, which offers various attractions for visitors, including seven hotels, Ferrari’s indoor theme park, a mall, a water park, a golf course, a beach, a concert arena, and a nightclub. The Grand Prix serves as the final race of the season, with one driver being crowned champion. The event draws over 60,000 racing enthusiasts annually, offering a thrilling experience with the world’s fastest race cars tearing around the Yas Marina Circuit at speeds over 190mph.
