The Copa América, known until 1975 as the South American Football Championship, is the main men's football tournament contested among national teams from South America. Established in 1916, it is the oldest still-running international football competition and the third most watched in the world. The tournament determines the champions of South America, with eight of the ten CONMEBOL national teams having won it at least once. The 2024 Copa América, the 48th edition, will be held in the United States in June and July 2024, after being postponed from mid-2023 due to FIFA's scheduling requirements.

The tournament will feature 10 CONMEBOL teams and 6 CONCACAF guest teams, including Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Paraguay, Uruguay, Venezuela, USA, Panama, Jamaica, Mexico, Costa Rica, and Canada. The teams will be divided into four groups, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the quarterfinals. The opening match will take place on June 20, 2024, at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, and the final will be held on July 14 at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.

The Copa América will be played across 14 venues in the United States, with four stadiums on the West Coast, five stadiums centrally, and five stadiums on the East Coast. The 2016 edition of the tournament, also held in the United States, averaged 46,000 fans per game, and with 92% of U.S. fans interested in the tournament even after their team loses, the widespread access to games across the country gives all fans the opportunity to engage with the tournament like never before.

The 2024 Copa América will feature the best teams in global soccer, including the current FIFA World Cup Champion (Argentina), Olympic gold medalist (Brazil), Under-20 Champion (Uruguay), and current Champion of the CONCACAF Gold Cup (Mexico). In total, the participating teams have won 10 World Cups, showcasing the highest quality of soccer. The tournament will also feature legendary players like Lionel Messi, who is expected to make his last dance and possibly his last major tournament appearance.

The Copa América is historically a CONMEBOL (South America) tournament, but now combined with teams from the CONCACAF, including the U.S.A., Mexico, Panama, Jamaica, Costa Rica, and for the first time, Canada.
