The Joy Awards

The Joy Awards, a significant event in the world of entertainment, is an annual celebration held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, under the auspices of the General Entertainment Authority (GEA). This prestigious awards ceremony is part of the Quality of Life Program, which forms a crucial component of Saudi Vision 2030, aiming to enhance the overall lifestyle and entertainment landscape in the country.

The Joy Awards serve as a platform to recognize and honor the artistic achievements of the Arab world, featuring 13 awards presented to nominated female and male celebrities across various genres and categories. The selection process for these awards is based on public voting through an application launched by the GEA, following a rigorous nomination process involving specialized committees. These committees carefully select candidates based on their contributions and efforts in the preceding year.

The Joy Awards have witnessed the participation of numerous international celebrities since its inception. In past years, the event has hosted notable figures such as Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan, Turkish actresses Demet Ozdemir and Ester Exposito, and Spanish actor Engin Akyuarek, among others.

The ceremony itself is a grand spectacle, with six different acts featuring various themes and set designs. The stage transforms into a vibrant Bollywood scene, an ephemeral environment using fabric, and a colorful world for the act of Joy, among others. The design and execution of the stage, lighting, sound, and video elements are carefully planned and executed to provide an immersive experience for the attendees.

In addition to the awards ceremony, the Joy Awards experience extends beyond the theater, offering visitors the opportunity to walk the Lavender Carpet, engage with fans, and have their pictures taken in front of various backgrounds. The Cave of Light, an immersive space made from hundreds of illuminated golden tubes, adds to the overall experience.

The Joy Awards also promote sustainability, with all tubes used for the show specified to be made from aluminum, allowing for recycling and reuse. The event is broadcast live on MBC1 and Shahid VIP platform, ensuring that a wide audience can enjoy the celebration of artistic achievements across numerous genres within Saudi Arabia.
