Paris Air Show
The Paris Air Show, also known as the Salon International de l'Aéronautique et de l'Espace de Paris-Le Bourget or Salon du Bourget, is a biennial event held in odd years at the Paris–Le Bourget Airport in France. Established in 1909, it is the world's largest air show and aerospace-industry exhibition event, surpassing other major events such as the Farnborough Air Show, Dubai Air Show, and Singapore Airshow in terms of exhibitors and exhibit space.
The Paris Air Show has a rich history, with its roots dating back to 1908 when a section of the Paris Motor Show was dedicated to aircraft. The first dedicated air show was held at the Grand Palais in 1909, attracting 100,000 visitors and featuring products and innovations from 380 exhibitors. The show was interrupted by the World Wars but resumed in 1919 and has been held in every odd year since 1949.
The event is organized by the Groupement des industries françaises aéronautiques et spatiales (GIFAS), the primary representative body of the French aerospace industry. It serves as a platform for showcasing military and civilian aircraft, attracting many military forces and major aircraft manufacturers. The show is known for significant aircraft sales announcements and has a format similar to other major air shows, such as Farnborough and the ILA Berlin Air Show, which are staged in even years.
The Paris Air Show consists of four professional days followed by three days open to the general public. It offers a unique opportunity for exhibitors and professional visitors to network, discover the latest innovations, and form technological and industrial partnerships. The show attracts a growing number of exhibitors and visitors with each edition, with the 2023 show featuring over 2,500 exhibitors from 46 countries and nearly 140,000 trade visitors.
In addition to the exhibition, the Paris Air Show features aerobatic displays and static displays of over 150 aircraft. It also hosts various special events, such as the Rocketry, and provides a platform for product launches from leading manufacturers and start-ups. The show's high international attendance and numerous networking events offer numerous privileges to exhibitors and professional visitors.
The Paris Air Show is not only an exhibition but also a significant event for the aerospace industry, offering a platform for manufacturers, users, and political decision-makers to connect, discuss, and collaborate.
