Cyrus Klepcys Vertical Skeleton Tourbillon Malachite
Cyrus Genève releases a two-piece limited edition featuring a 90-degree vertical tourbillon, malachite inlays, and a 100-hour power reserve. ShareCyrus Genève unveils the Klepcys Vertical Skeleton Tourbillon Malachite, an extraordinary timepiece limited to just two pieces worldwide. This 2024 model represents the evolution of the Klepcys Vertical Tourbillon, which first appeared in 2018 with a solid dial before progressing to skeletonized versions. The latest iteration distinguishes itself through the integration of malachite, a gemstone celebrated for its vibrant green hue and natural veining patterns.
This horological masterpiece stems from the ingenuity of Jean-François Mojon, master watchmaker and technical director at Cyrus Genève in Le Locle, Switzerland. The watch’s defining feature is its centrally positioned tourbillon cage, set on a 90-degree vertical axis. According to Cyrus’ research, this specific angle optimizes precision by maintaining the tourbillon in a near-vertical position when worn on the wrist.
The timepiece is encased in a cushion-shaped 44mm case crafted from 4N 18-carat rose gold, featuring Cyrus Genève’s signature dual-crown design. The crown at 3 o’clock handles time-setting and winding functions, while the 9 o’clock crown incorporates a pusher for quick time adjustments.
The skeletonized construction provides an unimpeded view of the movement from both front and back. A vertical bridge, inspired by Leonardo da Vinci’s self-supporting bridge design, supports the tourbillon cage and divides the dial into two distinct sections. This architectural element features microbillage finishing with bevelled and polished edges that enhance the watch’s dimensional presence.
A custom-made 1.2mm domed sapphire crystal protects the movement while maintaining visibility of the three-dimensional architecture. Retrograde hour and minute indicators are symmetrically arranged on either side of the dial—hours on the left, minutes on the right. These time markers are set on arches inlaid with malachite and framed in gold. The tourbillon cage, completing one rotation per minute, incorporates seconds indicators along its rim, with the 60-second mark highlighted in red.
At 12 o’clock, a black DLC microbeaded sphere functions as the power reserve indicator, displaying the remaining portion of the four-day (100-hour) reserve. The Cyrus logo at 6 o’clock completes the dial’s symmetrical balance.
The watch is powered by the in-house manual-winding CYR625 calibre with a double barrel system providing an impressive power reserve exceeding 100 hours. The movement showcases traditional finishing techniques throughout, including grey bridges with NAC galvanic treatment, sunray patterns, and microbeaded satin finishing. The ratchet wheels display the distinctive Cyrus propeller-like logo, while mirror-polished screw heads reflect meticulous attention to detail.
Completed with a green alligator leather strap that complements the malachite elements, this ultra-exclusive timepiece represents the pinnacle of horological artistry for the most discerning collectors.
