Hublot’s legacy of blending art and horology continues with its latest collaboration with British artist and designer Samuel Ross. Known for working with contemporary names like Richard Orlinski, Murakami, and Daniel Arsham, the Swiss watchmaker has long embraced bold, creative partnerships. Now, Ross returns for the third time to reimagine the Big Bang Tourbillon SR_A, this time with a fresh color palette and a carbon fiber case.

Ross and Hublot first collaborated in 2020 when the artist introduced the REFORM sculpture to celebrate Hublot’s 40th anniversary. That piece inspired the first Big Bang Tourbillon Samuel Ross watch. Since then, their partnership has delivered striking orange and green editions, each embodying the distinctive, architectural style Ross brings to design. This latest edition shifts the focus to blue and carbon fiber, introducing new elements while maintaining the watch’s signature aesthetic.

The hallmark of the Big Bang Tourbillon SR_A series is its daring, sculptural case design. The architecture of the watch goes beyond a functional enclosure, serving as a statement piece in its own right. Maintaining its substantial 44mm diameter and 13.75mm thickness, the case delivers a bold wrist presence while retaining its futuristic edge. The honeycomb pattern, a recurring design motif, enhances the visual complexity. Hexagonal elements are thoughtfully integrated into the lugs and flanks, creating a sense of depth and texture.

This edition introduces frosted grey carbon fiber to the case’s construction, used on the sides and the intermediate plate under the bezel. The remaining components retain their titanium composition, which balances strength and weight while featuring a mix of satin finishes and microblasted surfaces. Together, these materials create a dynamic play of textures and light, reinforcing the watch’s sculptural character.

This year’s design theme centers on blue, a color that plays a central role across the watch. The crown, strap, and dial embrace this vibrant shade, bringing a fresh and modern look to the timepiece. The dial’s latticework continues the honeycomb motif with hexagonal perforations that reveal layers of craftsmanship beneath.

The dial also incorporates six circular luminous hour markers above the movement, positioned on a transparent sapphire chapter ring. Three of these markers are highlighted in blue, adding an additional layer of detail and color. This design choice enhances legibility while showcasing the watch’s intricate construction. The transparency of the dial ensures the wearer can fully appreciate the in-house calibre HUB6035.

At the heart of the watch lies the HUB6035 movement, a marvel of mechanical engineering. Composed of 282 components, this automatic movement includes a 60-second tourbillon regulator at 6 o’clock and a Hublot-branded micro-rotor positioned at noon. Together, these features ensure precision and a generous 72-hour power reserve. The underside of the watch reveals the honeycomb-perforated plate, a nod to the recurring geometric theme. While visually striking, the movement is arguably more impressive when viewed from the dial side, where its complexity is fully on display.

Hublot complements the timepiece with two interchangeable rubber straps, one in black and the other in blue. The straps carry the honeycomb motif, seamlessly tying them into the overall design. Thanks to a quick-release system, swapping straps is effortless, allowing wearers to tailor the look to their preference. The straps are secured with a redesigned titanium folding clasp, ensuring both comfort and reliability. The Big Bang Tourbillon Carbon SR_A by Samuel Ross is a limited edition, with only 50 pieces available worldwide.
