Jacob & Co. ‘Don Juan’ Opera Godfather

Maluma, known for his unique style and flair, has added an exclusive one-of-one Jacob & Co. timepiece to his already impressive collection. The Colombian singer-songwriter recently collaborated with Jacob & Co. to design a bespoke watch and pendant necklace to mark the release of his new album, 1 of 1.
Named the “Don Juan,” this custom wristwatch is based on the iconic Opera Godfather model by the American watchmaker. Originally inspired by the 1972 film The Godfather, the tourbillon features numerous visual, symbolic, and graphic references to Francis Ford Coppola’s award-winning masterpiece. It even includes a music box that plays Nino Rota’s legendary soundtrack. However, Maluma’s version departs from the usual Godfather motifs, incorporating unique elements that celebrate his heritage and personal journey.
The “Don Juan” is crafted from a blend of titanium and 18-karat rose gold, with a 49 mm case housing a triple-axis tourbillon and twin music box complications. These two cylinders rotate against individual combs, creating a symphony of movement. The dial combines 18-karat rose gold with purple lacquered elements, and the music boxes are adorned with Maluma’s personal logos: an “M” on the plate and “DJ” on the piano. A miniature rose-gold crown, a signature of Maluma, is prominently placed at the centre of the movement. Powered by the in-house, manual-winding JCFM04 calibre, the watch beats at a frequency of 3 Hz and offers a power reserve of 42 hours. This one-of-a-kind piece is valued at $400,000.
In addition to the watch, Maluma co-designed a custom necklace with Jacob & Co. The handcrafted necklace pays homage to the pioneering Colombian artists who have influenced today’s music scene. It also honours the title track of Maluma and Blessd’s new collaborative album. The song “1 of 1,” which emphasizes being truly unique, includes the founder’s voice. “‘One of one’ means to me that there is nothing like it in the entire world,” the jewellery and watch designer says. “You are one of one.”
The necklace, crafted from 18-karat white and yellow gold, features a large cassette pendant measuring approximately 4.5 by 2.7 inches. The chain and pendant are encrusted with 25.85 carats of white brilliant-cut round diamonds (1,477 stones) and 5.87 carats of black round pave diamonds (439 stones). Following the album release on June 6, Maluma met with Jacob & Co. executives in Paris, France, to unveil and celebrate these exceptional pieces.
