520 Fifth Avenue, Kohn Pedersen Fox

Soaring 1,000 feet, 520 Fifth Avenue will redefine luxury living in Midtown Manhattan with 100 opulent residences and world-class amenities, set to debut in 2025. Share

Standing tall in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, the Kohn Pedersen Fox (KPF)-designed residential tower at 520 Fifth Avenue is set to become a new landmark for the New York skyline. Developed by Rabina, a renowned New York-based real estate firm, the 1,000-foot (305-meter) tower is easily recognized by its facade wrapped in arches, paying homage to the city’s long architectural heritage—including Beaux-Arts icons like the New York Public Library and Grand Central Terminal—through a fresh, modern lens. The glazed terracotta arches frame expansive ten-foot by ten-foot glass windows, while tiered terraces spiral up the tower.

Architects Kohn Pedersen Fox, known for building supertall structures like the Lotte World Tower in Seoul and the Ping An Finance Center in Shenzhen, China, were inspired by architect Hugh Ferriss, who influenced the look of Batman’s Gotham City, in designing 520 Fifth. Stepping inside the KPF-designed 520 Fifth Avenue, residents are greeted by a 24-hour attended lobby featuring a custom arched mosaic floor and elegant reeded walnut walls. The interiors throughout the building have been curated by Charles & Co., ensuring that from residences to amenities and the private club, the spaces evoke a contemporary reading of timeless New York style.

Arches modulate, unite, and differentiate the façade from other all-glass skyscrapers of the area. A tripartite loggia spans the first three floors and gives the retail, restaurant, and private club dramatic views as it buffers life within the building from the bustling streetscape. Offices span the lower floors, ensuring each tenant enjoys a full floor identity. The residences rise to 1,000 feet above the New York streetscape, giving tenants sun-filled rooms with twelve-foot ceilings, 10-foot windows that enhance dramatic views of neighbouring landmarks, and exquisitely appointed indoor and outdoor amenity spaces.

Column-free interiors and a compact and efficient core allow for flexibility in the arrangement of interior office and residential spaces. When 520 Fifth opens next year in Manhattan, due to be the tallest residential tower on Fifth Avenue, residents will live in a classic-luxe property that takes cues from such nearby historic buildings as the New York Public Library and Grand Central Station.

The light-filled residences at 520 Fifth Avenue open broadly out toward the city through KPF’s expansive arched windows. With high ceilings ranging from ten feet to over fourteen feet, the spaces are curated with wide-plank white oak floors, adding warmth to the lofty rooms. Kitchens feature top-of-the-line appliances, ribbed walnut islands, and quartzite slab countertops and backsplashes. Meanwhile, bathrooms offer a spa-like experience with marble countertops, herringbone marble flooring, and polished nickel fixtures. One- to four-bedroom homes occupy the tower’s top forty stories, providing residences of all sizes access to the building’s highest floors with views across both the East River and the Hudson and beyond.

Units at 520 Fifth start on the 42nd floor, while the 88th floor will be an amenity floor for residents only, featuring a lounge, game room, dining room, library, and glass-walled solarium. The project will also include office floors as well as Moss, a new private members’ club, a spa, and a celebrity chef-helmed restaurant that can cater to a resident’s apartment.

Located in the heart of energized Midtown Manhattan, 520 Fifth Avenue marks the centre of the world’s greatest city. Residents are just a block away from bustling Bryant Park, two blocks from Grand Central Station, and close to all that makes living in New York City extraordinary: Central Park, the Theater District, Fifth Avenue shopping, MoMA, Rockefeller Center, world-class restaurants, and beloved local gems. Construction is already underway on the building with completion scheduled for 2025.
