Aman Residences, Tokyo, Pelli Clarke & Partners
Atop Japan's tallest residential tower, Aman Residences offers 91 luxurious apartments with exclusive amenities including an Aman Spa, private dining, and bespoke interiors by Yabu Pushelberg. ShareAman Residences, Tokyo marks Aman’s first standalone branded residences, overlooking Tokyo Tower within Mori Building’s visionary Toranomon-Azabudai development. This project, 30 years in the making, features residences on the top 11 floors of the magnificent Mori Tower, Japan’s tallest residential building. This sanctuary offers owners an unparalleled experience, both literally and figuratively at the pinnacle of city life. Upon arriving, owners are welcomed through a private entrance and dedicated elevators opening directly into the 11th-floor lobby. A suspended sculpture floats above a reflective pond, aimed at reconnecting residents to nature.
The building comprises 91 apartments, with renowned firm Yabu Pushelberg handling the interior design. Each residence features a private entrance and dedicated elevators, incorporating traditional Japanese design details like a tranquil reflection pond in the lobby. Shared spaces include elements inspired by water, air, fire, and earth, blending natural and urban environments seamlessly.
Occupying the 54th to 64th floors, these residences are the highest in Japan, offering serene sanctuaries closer to the clouds than the bustling urban centre below. Each of the two- to six-bedroom residences features a dedicated elevator lobby, ensuring privacy and exclusivity. The interiors, curated by the acclaimed international design firm Yabu Pushelberg, provide a refined living experience with modern design elements.
Toranomon-Azabudai, designed by Heatherwick Studio and Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects, combines the sophistication and convenience of a global metropolis with the intimacy of a village. This eight-hectare garden district, Tokyo’s new green heart, brings people together to form a unique community living in harmony with nature. The area offers numerous dining and cultural experiences, a prestigious international school, an art museum, and a gallery, all within soul-soothing green spaces.
Residents and their guests have access to exclusive facilities on the 54th and 56th floors, including a Tea Room, Library, Reading Room, and a private Lounge, Bar, and Dining Room serviced by private chefs. A 1,400m2 Aman Spa with a 25m pool provides panoramic city views, offering a sanctuary atop Tokyo. This spa includes a sauna, steam room, and a state-of-the-art gym, ensuring a holistic wellness experience.
Despite not having a hotel component, Aman Residences, Tokyo offers hotel-like perks. These include a lounge, bar, private dining room, tea room, library, and media room. The signature Aman Spa features an impressive pool, sauna, steam room, and gym, ensuring residents enjoy a luxurious lifestyle.
“Aman Residences, Tokyo represents a deep immersion into the Aman lifestyle in the heart of the city and sets a new standard for luxury residences not just in Japan, but globally,” Vlad Doronin, chairman, CEO, and owner of Aman Group, said in a press statement. “The execution of this project is second-to-none, with a consideration of every detail and refinement in the design which creates an instant feeling of calm, sanctuary, and peace upon arrival and represents a successful collaboration between Aman and Mori Building Co.”
This launch builds on Aman’s branded residence presence, which began in 1988 with their Amanpuri resort. They now have 13 residence locations with 10 more planned in the next five years, including upcoming projects in Bangkok, Beverly Hills, Miami, and Japan. The Tokyo residences quickly sold out initial offerings, with the remaining units from a second phase now on sale.
Aman is adding a new set of branded residences to its portfolio, but this time, there won’t be a hotel attached. The luxury hospitality brand is venturing out with its first-ever standalone residential project, Aman Residences, Tokyo. The property will be nestled within Azabudai Hills, the new, high-end mega-development where Aman Group’s sister company, Janu, just debuted its inaugural hotel. More specifically, the residences will occupy the top 11 floors of the Mori JP Tower, the Japanese capital’s tallest skyscraper.
The much-anticipated development has already sold out most of the homes in the first phase; however, there are still a few units waiting to be scooped up. The initial 91 apartments planned for sale have been fully purchased by owners, securing record premium prices per square foot for the market.
