Mustang GTD debuts at Le Mans with cutting-edge performance features and a driver-focused interior, aiming for Nürburgring dominance. Share

Ford has unveiled the 2025 Mustang GTD Carbon Series at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, showcasing high performance, premium functionality, and unmatched sophistication. The Mustang GTD features a new Performance pack designed to complete a lap of the Nürburgring in under 7 minutes. The package includes magnesium wheels, active aerodynamics, and a new front fascia with dive planes.

“Many sports cars excel at one thing. But for a car to set a quick lap at the Nürburgring, it needs to be great at everything. Cornering, grip, braking, acceleration, there’s not a single area where it can’t shine,” said Mustang GTD Chief Engineer Greg Goodall. “From the lightweight carbon fibre body on every GTD to the active aerodynamics of the Performance package, we’ve learned from motorsport how to make the Mustang GTD excel everywhere, all in the quest for a sub-seven-minute lap of the Nürburgring.”

The Mustang GTD’s Performance package is crucial in the quest for a sub-7-minute Nürburgring lap. It includes dive planes and a larger splitter on the front fascia, underbody flaps, and a drag reduction system on the rear wing. These active aerodynamic elements reduce drag in a straight line while maintaining aerodynamic grip in corners. The Lightweight package, part of the Performance pack, removes some sound-deadening material and adds 20-inch magnesium wheels, enhancing the car’s agility.

The Mustang GTD’s interior is designed to keep drivers focused and aware. Standard Recaro seats work with a new steering wheel to enhance the driving experience. The flat-bottom steering wheel features a thick, well-padded rim with premium Dinamica inserts, a leather wrap, and carbon-fibre inserts. Exclusive buttons on the steering wheel allow drivers to adjust suspension firmness and exhaust mode without taking their eyes off the road.

The interior also includes 3D-printed titanium paddle shifters with a hexagonal pattern for better grip. The rotary gear selector on the centre console is trimmed in titanium. Two new buttons on the hero panel provide access to the Track Apps page and a front-axle lift function, helping to avoid parking lot and driveway obstacles. “Mustang GTD does far more than elevate the Mustang’s performance envelope. It brings a new more focused, premium feel to the cabin,” said Design Manager Anthony Colard.

The Mustang GTD’s cutting-edge software suite includes Mustang GTD-specific welcome and farewell graphics on the 13.2-inch touchscreen and 12.4-inch reconfigurable digital gauge cluster. Each of the six drive modes features a Mustang GTD-specific theme, and a new Performance gauge cluster puts the gear indicator and tachometer front and centre. The Mustang avatar on the My Mustang page now features a Mustang GTD. U.S. market applications for the Mustang GTD have been open for some time, and now European customers can apply as well.

The Mustang GTD’s new Chroma Flame paint, one of six standard colours, takes centre stage at Le Mans. This deep burgundy shade pairs beautifully with the Carbon Series trim, which leaves the hood, roof, and rear Tech Deck unpainted while finishing the wheels in Magnetite. Customers can choose body colour or contrasting painted stripes and painted brake callipers in Grabber Blue, Race Red, or Black.
