Bentley unveils 4th-generation Continental GT Speed

A new Continental GT Speed coupe and Convertible has made its US public debut at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, featuring 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8. Share

The highly anticipated fourth-generation Continental GT Speed from Bentley marked a global debut that carried high expectations from its loyal customers. The British designer and manufacturer delivered on those expectations with a formidable 782 PS (771 bhp) and 1,000 Nm (738 lb. ft) of torque—making the new GT Speed the most powerful and dynamic Bentley yet. This much-awaited debut took place at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, a cornerstone event of Monterey Car Week.

Powered by a cutting-edge Ultra Performance Hybrid system, the car combines a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine with an electric motor. This makes it the most potent Bentley to date, capable of reaching 60 mph in a mere 3.1 seconds and hitting a top speed of 208 mph, all while boasting an impressive all-electric range of 50 miles on the EU cycle.

Inside, the car’s cabin is a masterclass in opulence. New leathers in Gravity Grey and Brunel form the foundation of the interior, while splashes of contrast orange stitching accentuate the cabin’s luxurious design. Mandarin pinstripes are thoughtfully applied across various surfaces, including the fascia and air vents, tying in with the car’s bold exterior. The diamond quilting on the seats, doors, and panels, along with dual-finished fascias in Piano Brunel, further elevate the bespoke quality.

This particular GT Speed showcases a vivid Orange Flame Satin exterior, complemented by gloss black accents and 22-inch ten-spoke wheels. Each detail of the car’s finish, from the specialized paint application to the matching black brightware, exemplifies the precision that Bentley offers through its extensive customization options. The signature Naim audio system and a sport-tuned exhaust system complete the experience, blending both sonic and visual elements in a refined manner.

The GT Speed’s exterior design also reflects a shift in Bentley’s aesthetic direction. The most significant update to the Continental GT’s appearance in two decades, this iteration emphasizes clean lines and modern detailing, drawing inspiration from the brand’s coachbuilt masterpieces, the Bacalar and Batur. With single headlamps—marking a return to a design element not seen since the 1950s—Bentley is simultaneously nodding to its heritage while propelling its image into the future.

Moreover, this new generation introduces both the coupe and convertible models concurrently, offering customers flexibility in their choice of body style without compromising on performance or luxury. Both versions will be handcrafted at Bentley’s state-of-the-art facility in Crewe, England, ensuring that each car benefits from the same attention to detail and artistry that defines the marque’s vehicles.

Beyond the new GT Speed. the marque is bringing two additional special vehicles to California: the Speed Six Continuation Series and the Bentley Heritage Collection’s 1961 S2 Drophead Coupe. The Speed Six Continuation, following its dynamic debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, will be on the road throughout the event. This continuation car, in its Parsons Napier Green finish, has been engineered to match the specifications of the original Speed Six racers, blending heritage with modern engineering.

Meanwhile, the S2 Drophead Coupe—a rare gem from Bentley’s history, with only 15 ever produced—will be featured at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. The vehicle’s entry into the Post-War Touring class is a significant milestone, as it represents Bentley’s first official participation in this prestigious event. The showcase is just the beginning for the new GT Speed in the U.S. A fleet of more than 30 models will soon embark on a nationwide dealer tour, offering select customers a chance to experience its performance firsthand.
