Ferrari unveils unique Roma Spider featuring recycled materials

Ferrari recently announced the launch of a rare version of the Roma Spider, designed by the Tailor Made department, showcasing innovative personalization options. This special edition Roma Spider is now displayed at the Enzo Ferrari Museum in Modena as part of the ‘Ferrari One of a Kind’ exhibition, which celebrates Ferrari’s bespoke customization capabilities.
Notably, the seat’s central panel features manual stitching, using leather from the interior and thread made from recycled tyres, symbolizing the brand’s push towards sustainability. Ferrari has also incorporated laser techniques on aluminium components, including the Ferrari shield on the front wing. Additionally, the car’s bonnet can be customized with a compass rose and the geographical coordinates of Maranello, deepening its connection to Ferrari’s heritage.
The interior design further exemplifies eco-conscious luxury, featuring chrome-free nappa leather and wood of controlled origin on the tonneau cover and rear floor. Components made from recycled sand, originally used in Ferrari’s foundry casting process, are used in the centre console. These sustainable materials are seamlessly integrated into the overall design, without sacrificing the luxurious feel Ferrari is known for. In keeping with its focus on sustainability, the Roma Spider also utilizes recycled aluminium in components of the twin-turbo V8 engine, reducing production waste.
A special collaboration with Montblanc adds to the exclusivity of this Roma Spider edition. Montblanc has created a limited-edition Meisterstück writing instrument for the occasion, finished in the same Oro Mida color chosen by the Ferrari Styling Centre for the car. This Meisterstück features a hand-worked Au750 solid gold nib and platinum-coated sections, reflecting the car’s attention to detail and craftsmanship. Accompanying the writing instrument is a custom logbook made from the same leather found in the Roma Spider’s interior, with the Maranello coordinates embossed on its cover, mirroring the compass rose on the car’s bonnet.
The creation of this unique Roma Spider has provided Ferrari’s Tailor Made department an opportunity to experiment with new materials and production techniques, further extending the wealth of personalization options available to Ferrari clients. Visitors to the ‘Ferrari One of a Kind’ exhibition can experience these innovations firsthand, exploring the Roma Spider alongside an interactive wall showcasing the various materials, colours, and fabrics Ferrari clients can choose from. The Tailor Made program offers three collections—Classica, Inedita, and Scuderia—each with its own distinct aesthetic, providing endless options for customization.

Its most distinguishing feature is the retractable soft top, a design that makes a return to Ferrari’s front-engine range after 54 years, since the 365 GTS4.
