Maserati GT2 Stradale unveiled at Monterey Car Week 2024
Maserati debuted the GT2 Stradale at Monterey Car Week 2024, showcasing a road-legal super sports car inspired by its GT racing model. ShareThe Maserati GT2 Stradale recently took centre stage at the 2024 Monterey Car Week in California, marking its world debut in front of an audience eager to witness the latest marvel from the iconic Italian brand. Uncovered at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, this super sports car brought together Maserati’s deep racing heritage with cutting-edge road car technology, blending the brand’s track-focused GT2 racer and the celebrated MC20 supercar. It was crafted to deliver a thrilling driving experience that could dominate the race track while offering a refined and comfortable ride on everyday roads.
Designed to evoke the purest performance traits of a racing car while maintaining the comfort and elegance expected from a Maserati, the GT2 Stradale featured a top speed of over 320 km/h, an upgraded 640 hp engine (10 hp more than the MC20), and a significant weight reduction of 60 kg. Its acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.8 seconds made it clear that the car was engineered for those who craved an exhilarating drive. The car’s aerodynamic enhancements and sleek design elements, derived from its GT2 sibling, created a vehicle that seamlessly combined aggressive aesthetics with track-ready performance.
Customization options played a key role in the GT2 Stradale’s appeal. Maserati offered a wide array of choices, including performance-oriented packages, design enhancements, and exclusive Fuoriserie features. This made each GT2 Stradale unique, tailored to the specific desires of its owner, with configurations available based on market demands.
Reflecting on the launch, Maserati CEO Davide Grasso said, “This model intended for everyday driving was created based on the desire to offer our customers more and more in terms of technical mastery, innovation, design, and emotions in road driving: on the one hand, we find sophisticated solutions reserved for models designed for track use only, the epitome of Maserati’s racing DNA; on the other, we can guarantee optimal comfort paired with all the most advanced driver assistance systems. Maserati GT2 Stradale is a product that can fulfil the requirements of the most discerning enthusiasts, a new creation that expresses the brand’s entire essence.”
Alongside the GT2 Stradale, Maserati showcased two additional standout models during Monterey Car Week: the MC20 Icona and the MCXtrema. The MC20 Icona, which made its North American debut, celebrated Maserati’s triumphant return to GT racing 20 years ago with the iconic MC12. Limited to just 20 units, the MC20 Icona was designed as a tribute to the 2004 MC12 Stradale, a vehicle revered for its high-performance Ferrari-derived V12 engine and its embodiment of Maserati’s motorsport success.
The MCXtrema also made a return to Monterey after its 2023 world premiere, this time for a special event at Laguna Seca marking the delivery of the first unit. With its 730 hp engine and design optimized purely for the track, the MCXtrema has quickly become Maserati’s most powerful track car to date. The exclusive model was limited to just 62 units worldwide, appealing to an elite clientele seeking unrivalled performance and technical brilliance. The unveiling and delivery ceremony at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca underscored the MCXtrema’s significance in Maserati’s lineup.
