Porsche Unveils the Carrera T Cabriolet: A First in Sophisticated Open-Air Performance
Porsche introduces the 2025 911 Carrera T, available in coupé and cabriolet forms, featuring a 3.0-litre twin-turbo engine, six-speed manual transmission, and weight-reducing design elements. SharePorsche has expanded its 911 range with the introduction of the 911 Carrera T, now available as both a coupé and, for the first time, a cabriolet. This model is built around the essence of driving pleasure, emphasising agility, lightweight construction, and an emotive sound profile. The 911 Carrera T comes equipped with a six-speed manual transmission and offers tailored equipment packages to allow for individual customisation. The ‘T’ in Carrera T stands for ‘Touring,’ a nod to the original 911 T first produced between 1968 and 1973. Reintroduced in 2017, the modern Carrera T slots between the standard Carrera and the Carrera S, embodying the pure joy of driving with its rear-wheel-drive layout.
The heart of the 911 Carrera T is a 3.0-litre six-cylinder twin-turbo boxer engine, generating 290 kW (394 PS) and up to 450 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a six-speed manual transmission, featuring an auto-blip function for smoother downshifts by synchronising engine and gearbox speeds. The Carrera T coupé accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 4.5 seconds, while the cabriolet completes the sprint in 4.7 seconds. Both models reach a top speed of approximately 295 km/h. The car’s dynamic soundscape is enhanced by a standard sports exhaust system, further amplified by the reduced interior insulation.
Weight-saving measures play a significant role in the Carrera T’s design. With lightweight glass and reduced soundproofing, the car achieves a weight of 1,478 kg in its lightest configuration with full bucket seats, making it over 40 kg lighter than the standard 911 Carrera. This reduction contributes to its enhanced performance and driving agility. The 911 Carrera T’s chassis is developed for superior handling and stability. It comes standard with the Sport Chrono Package, which includes the Track Precision App for performance tracking.
Rear-axle steering is also standard, offering more responsive handling and precise steering input. The front axle has a more direct steering ratio, improving overall handling. Porsche tuned the rear-axle steering specifically for the Carrera T to optimise its driving dynamics. The PASM adaptive sports suspension lowers the ride height by 10 mm and is fine-tuned for this model to deliver sharper handling and a sportier ride. The Carrera T features 20-inch front and 21-inch rear Carrera S light-alloy wheels, fitted with 245/35 ZR20 tyres at the front and 305/30 ZR21 tyres at the rear.
Distinct design elements set the Carrera T apart from other 911 models. The rear design features Vanadium Grey model badging, along with Vanadium Grey accents on the rear lid grille and the polished light-alloy wheels. An aerodynamically optimised spoiler lip, taken from the 911 Carrera GTS, adds to the visual appeal and performance. Customisation options include a broad range of body colours.
The Legends scheme offers Shade Green Metallic, Crayon, and Slate Grey Neo; the Dreams scheme features Guards Red, Lugano Blue, Gentian Blue Metallic, and Cartagena Yellow Metallic; while the Shades scheme provides more muted tones like Jet Black Metallic, GT Silver Metallic, and Ice Grey Metallic. Additional customisation is available through Porsche’s Paint to Sample and Paint to Sample Plus programs. Cabriolet models can be fitted with tops in Black, Red, Blue, or Brown.
Inside, the 911 Carrera T maintains a focus on sportiness and simplicity. Black dominates the interior, accented by contrasting stitching, with the stopwatch from the Sport Chrono Package featured prominently on the dashboard. The gear lever is topped with an open-pore walnut gear knob. In front of the gear lever, a ‘MT’ badge indicates the manual transmission, and the shift pattern logo is printed on the passenger side of the dashboard. Standard equipment includes a leather-upholstered, heated GT sports steering wheel with a mode switch. A Race-Tex steering wheel is available as an alternative. Decorative inlays in the dashboard and centre console come in Vanadium Grey, while the door panel inserts are black brushed aluminium.
Seating in the Carrera T features four-way electrically adjustable sports seats with Sport-Tex centres. The exclusive tartan fabric pattern adds a nod to Porsche’s heritage, and 911 logos are stitched into the headrests. The Carrera T design packages enhance the exclusivity of this model with options for both exterior and interior details. Gentian Blue accents can be added to the exterior inlays on the rear lid, Carrera T decals on the front and rear, MT stickers, and gloss-lathed light-alloy wheels. The interior can be complemented with Gentian Blue stitching, seat belts, and contrasting elements in the centre console, door panels, and headrests, all featuring the 911 logo. Pricing for the 2025 Porsche 911 Carrera T starts at $135,995 for the coupé and $149,295 for the cabriolet in the US.
