Rimac Nevera R debuts as the world’s fastest production-spec electric hypercar
Rimac Automobili introduces the Nevera R, a high-performance hypercar with 2,107 hp, enhanced cornering abilities, and advanced aerodynamics. ShareRimac Automobili has expanded its Nevera lineup with the introduction of the Nevera R, a more aggressive variant designed to shift from a Hyper GT to a Hyper Sportscar. Positioned as the radical and performance-focused counterpart to the original Nevera, the Nevera R exemplifies Rimac’s core philosophy: Radical, Rebellious, and Relentless.
The Nevera R takes performance to new levels with a range of enhancements aimed at optimising cornering and dynamic handling while further improving straight-line speed. Powered by a 2,107-horsepower drivetrain, the car features next-generation Rimac All-Wheel Torque Vectoring and advanced braking systems. The upgraded performance allows the Nevera R to reach 300 km/h (186 mph) in just 8.66 seconds—surpassing even the record-breaking original Nevera.
Mate Rimac, CEO of the Rimac Group, highlighted the vehicle’s purpose: “When we developed the Nevera, an important part of the brief was that it should be a Grand Tourer. We made sure it was spacious, comfortable and finely balanced between thrilling and accessible. But we’re relentlessly tweaking to customers’ desires, and many were looking for a car that really emphasised Nevera’s cornering ability, using all the advanced technology on board. We responded with the Nevera R: all the DNA of the record-breaking Nevera, but lighter, faster and more focused.”
To achieve this sharper focus on dynamic performance, Rimac’s design and engineering teams revisited the original Nevera and re-engineered critical elements to bring it deeper into the realm of a hypersports car. Enhanced driving dynamics, a performance-oriented battery, increased power, and upgraded brakes are central to the Nevera R’s identity, which also incorporates a more aggressive and purposeful visual design.
The Nevera R’s design is characterized by clean, streamlined surfaces and balanced proportions. The car sits lower and features a forward-leaning stance accentuated by 21-inch rear wheels and 20-inch front wheels. The front design emphasises aerodynamic efficiency and a wide, planted stance with carefully integrated horizontal lines.
The collaborative effort between Rimac’s designers and engineers is evident in the seamless integration of performance-enhancing features and striking aesthetics. The side profile showcases a blend of body colour and exposed carbon fibre, contributing to a timeless yet dynamic appearance. The wheels have been redesigned with elongated spokes and distinct colour splits, while the rear features a large fixed wing and an advanced aero package, including a new diffuser that increases downforce by 15% and improves aerodynamic efficiency by 10%.
Paired with Michelin Cup 2 tyres, the Nevera R’s performance is further enhanced through reduced understeer, increased lateral grip, and improved lap times, notably shaving 3.8 seconds off a lap around the Nardo Handling Track. This combination of additional grip, higher downforce, and optimised aerodynamics allows the Nevera R to push the boundaries of what’s possible in high-performance driving.
The new generation All-Wheel Torque Vectoring (R-AWTV) system has been re-tuned to maximise the Nevera R’s capabilities, particularly in tight corners. Enhanced downforce and lateral performance contribute to a more engaging driving experience on both winding roads and the track. The traction control system has been revised to handle the improved grip levels while maintaining predictability in various conditions. Additionally, the steering system has been refined for quicker response and better feedback, while Drift mode has been adjusted to complement the new tyre setup.
