Rolls-Royce Motor Cars announces the one-of-one Spectre Lunaflair

Rolls-Royce has unveiled the Spectre Lunaflair, a one-of-one Bespoke commission created for a client in the United States. The centerpiece of this extraordinary vehicle is its holographic paint finish, which produces a stunning rainbow effect reminiscent of a lunar halo. This optical phenomenon occurs when moonlight passes through ice crystals in high-altitude cirrus clouds, refracting the light and creating a colourful ring around the moon. The paint was designed to capture this ethereal effect, requiring more than a year of development and meticulous experimentation.

The paint process involved the application of seven layers of lacquer, including a specially formulated pearlescent coat infused with magnesium fluoride and aluminum flakes. Under low light, the car exhibits a deep metallic finish, but in bright sunlight, it transforms, bursting into a brilliant technicolour display. The concept for Spectre Lunaflair draws inspiration from the one-of-one Phantom Syntopia, which was revealed in 2023. The Phantom featured a dark iridescent Liquid Noir finish that shifted colours based on lighting conditions. Impressed by this design, the client behind Spectre Lunaflair requested a lighter, more luminous version that mirrored the beauty of a lunar halo.

This project highlights the cross-pollination of ideas within Rolls-Royce’s Bespoke Collective, where previous commissions inspire new creations. The dramatic exterior of Spectre Lunaflair is paired with an equally stunning interior, designed to reflect the hues of a lunar halo. The cabin features a striking combination of Navy Blue, White, and Peony Pink tones. These colours appear on the seats, doors, and Starlight Headliner, further emphasizing the celestial theme. The dual-tone steering wheel also incorporates this colour palette, with a Navy Blue outer layer and an Arctic White inner section. The unique Lunaflair paint, exclusive to this commission, ensures that this vehicle will remain a singular masterpiece in the world of luxury automobiles.

Inside the vehicle, the craftsmanship continues with luxurious materials and finishes that echo the celestial theme. Each bespoke vehicle is a reflection of the client’s personality and vision, with the Bespoke Collective working tirelessly to bring these concepts to life in ways that are both innovative and timeless.
