The Mercedes-Maybach SL Monogram Series adds a sporty two-seater to the model family

The Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series, described as the sportiest model in Maybach’s history, recently made a bold debut with a refined combination of colours and materials for both the exterior and interior. With its design elements and luxurious details, this open-top two-seater sets new standards in driving comfort and style. The car debuts with two curated design concepts: “Red Ambience,” featuring a striking two-tone finish of obsidian black metallic and Manufaktur garnet red metallic, and “White Ambience,” combining obsidian black metallic with Manufaktur opalite white magno. Both colour schemes capture the essence of sensuality and elegance, reflecting the philosophy behind the new model.

The exterior features an iconic Maybach design, including illuminated chrome accents on the radiator grille and distinctive bonnet details. The upright Mercedes star and chrome fin running along the bonnet’s centre add a signature touch, while the obsidian black bonnet can be customized with a Maybach pattern in graphite grey uni, applied through a detailed, multi-step process. Other notable elements include rose gold accents within the headlights, a windscreen frame in chrome, and 21-inch forged wheels in either a 5-hole or multi-spoke design.

The rear of the vehicle boasts signature Maybach details, including tailpipe trims with a horizontal bar and a double scoop behind the seats that enhances its aerodynamic design. The soft top, crafted from light black fabric, subtly incorporates the Maybach pattern in anthracite, contributing to the car’s refined aesthetic.

Inside the Mercedes-Maybach SL 680, the cabin is adorned with sustainably tanned, crystal white nappa leather, offering a luxurious environment that extends from the door panels to the centre console and comfortable seats. The seat upholstery features a new floral design, while the space behind the seats is also finished in white leather. Galvanized seat backrests and silver chrome trim further accentuate the interior’s elegance. Maybach-specific digital displays and animations enhance the user experience, complemented by the signature Maybach steering wheel, stainless steel pedals, and door sill trims.

Engineered for a high level of driving and acoustic comfort, the SL 680 is powered by a 4.0-litre biturbo engine delivering 430 kW (585 hp) paired with a smooth-shifting 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission. The vehicle offers a dynamic yet refined driving experience, bolstered by fully variable 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive and standard rear-axle steering, ensuring both agility and stability in various driving conditions. Noise reduction measures, including optimized exhaust systems and extensive insulation, contribute to the characteristically quiet ride.

In addition to the vehicle itself, MAYBACH Icons of Luxury will launch an exclusive collection inspired by the materials and colours of the SL 680. The collection includes items like a leather jacket, sneakers, a scarf, a tote bag, and a dog bag, all available in boutiques and online upon the car’s market release. The Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series offers a blend of historical elegance and modern luxury, positioning itself as a new benchmark in Maybach’s lineup, with market rollout beginning in Europe in spring 2025.
