Indulge in the enchanting radiance of La Dolce Vita Orient Express
La Dolce Vita Orient Express will begin offering exclusive luxury train journeys across Italy in Spring 2025, featuring award-winning dining and curated itineraries. ShareItaly’s first luxury train, La Dolce Vita Orient Express, is now accepting reservations for Spring 2025, offering a unique opportunity to experience the elegance of Italian travel. This all-inclusive journey will feature eight exclusive itineraries, each inspired by the Italian glamour of the 1960s and 1970s. Departing from Rome, the train will traverse Italy’s most iconic regions and cities, including Venice, Tuscany, Piedmont, Sicily, Matera, Portofino, and Abruzzo.
With its concept developed by Dimorestudio, the La Dolce Vita Orient Express combines Italian artistry with modern comfort. The train’s interior reflects the style of the 1960s and 1970s, capturing the essence of the “La Dolce Vita” period. The train’s 12 carriages can host up to 62 passengers in 12 deluxe cabins, 18 suites, and one La Dolce Vita Suite. Every detail is designed to enhance the intimate and immersive experience of luxury travel, complete with en-suite facilities and plush accommodations.
The La Dolce Vita Orient Express honours Italy’s rich design legacy with a modern twist. The train’s design was inspired by the work of iconic Italian architects and designers like Carlo Scarpa, Gio Ponti, and Ignazio Gardella. These masters of design are complemented by the artistic vision of the Spatialism movement, which brought together art, space, and time, represented by artists such as Lucio Fontana and Enrico Castellani.
This attention to design is evident in every corner of the train. Every element has been carefully considered to evoke the glamour and sophistication of the golden age of Italian travel. The interiors create a harmonious blend of historic and contemporary styles, ensuring that passengers feel immersed in a timeless yet modern environment.
Eight exclusive round-trip itineraries will offer travellers a comprehensive exploration of Italy’s diverse regions. Spanning over 9,941 miles of rail, the itineraries will include stops in 131 cities across 14 regions. Guests can expect a balance of nature and culture as they travel through Italy’s lakes, forests, and mountains, along with historic cities like Rome and Venice. The itineraries also grant access to lesser-known destinations like Matera, one of the world’s oldest cities, and the medieval village of Palena in Abruzzo.
One of the highlights includes crossing to Sicily via the world’s first passenger rail ferry. The train decouples at Calabria and embarks on a short ferry ride across the sea before resuming its journey on Sicilian soil. Each trip also offers a range of carefully curated excursions designed to enhance the cultural and natural experiences of each region.
La Dolce Vita Orient Express promises a culinary journey overseen by three award-winning Chef Heinz Beck. Known for his refined approach to Italian cuisine, Beck will craft menus that celebrate the rich culinary heritage of each region. The food served on board will highlight local ingredients and be thoughtfully paired with wines chosen in collaboration with Vinitaly, one of the world’s foremost wine and spirits exhibitions.
Passengers will be able to explore Italy’s wine culture through exclusive tastings of rare and well-known wines, selected from across the country’s diverse regions. This partnership with Vinitaly aligns with the train’s broader mission to celebrate Italy’s unique cultural and gastronomic offerings. In addition to the culinary journey, passengers will enjoy the comfort and elegance of the La Dolce Vita Orient Express Executive Lounge at Roma Ostiense, providing a seamless and luxurious travel experience.
Samy Ghachem, the newly appointed General Manager and former managing director at Sereno Hotels brings extensive experience in luxury hospitality to this ambitious venture. His leadership will ensure the train’s revival under the partnership of Italian hospitality group Arsenale S.p.A., Orient Express, and Trenitalia.
Ghachem remarks, “La Dolce Vita Orient Express is set to offer an inimitable take on luxury rail travel, reigniting a bygone era through a contemporary lens, Italian style.”
The train’s launch marks the start of an exciting new chapter in luxury travel, with more details to come about the anticipated openings of two Orient Express hotels—La Minerva in Rome and Palazzo Donà Giovannelli in Venice.
