London welcomes Park Hyatt’s iconic brand with riverfront debut

Park Hyatt London River Thames opens as the UK’s first Park Hyatt, positioned in Nine Elms along the River Thames and designed by KPF, Super Potato, and Studio Moren. Share

The long-awaited debut of Park Hyatt London River Thames marks a significant addition to London’s luxury hotel landscape. Nestled on the banks of the Thames in Nine Elms, this property stands as both a refined retreat and a modern symbol of urban rejuvenation. With interiors designed by Super Potato and Studio Moren, the hotel effortlessly blends modern luxury with classic English style, featuring a calming palette of white, ebony, leather, and brass. Floor-to-ceiling windows flood rooms with natural light, offering views that span the river, the Houses of Parliament, and London’s iconic skyline.

The attention to art is evident from the moment guests arrive. At the entrance, they are greeted by a Thames-inspired installation by Charlie Whinney. This theme carries throughout the hotel, with original pieces by Ian Rayer-Smith, Jo Taylor, Françoise Delaire, Gabriel Leung, and others displayed along the corridors and common spaces, adding a layer of thoughtful sophistication to the environment.

With 203 meticulously designed guest rooms, including 34 suites, the hotel offers a sanctuary for guests. Rooms have been designed with thoughtful details, featuring floor-to-ceiling windows, marble bathrooms, and bespoke accents by William Morris. For those with a penchant for added luxury, the suites come with expansive living areas and panoramic views, with the presidential suite boasting an unparalleled perspective of the Thames, complete with a private elevator and butler’s kitchen. Each guest room includes carefully curated amenities, such as Nespresso machines, blackout curtains, and soon-to-be-released exclusive bath products by Blaise Mautin.

Dining at the Park Hyatt London River Thames brings a range of culinary experiences. The Nine Elms Kitchen & Terrace showcases seasonal, locally sourced ingredients in a setting that celebrates the flavours of London. Guests can enjoy breakfast, lunch, or dinner here, with options ranging from buffet-style breakfasts to an à la carte selection. For those who enjoy a sophisticated social atmosphere, The Nine Elms Bar & Lounge offers a curated cocktail menu, while the Tamisé Tea Lounge and Wine Library serves as the ideal spot for a traditional British afternoon tea or an intimate wine tasting. Scheduled for a late 2024 opening is a Cantonese restaurant, expected to bring authentic East Asian flavours to the hotel’s already impressive culinary lineup.

Guan Zhixiong, Director of R&F One, highlighted the significance of the hotel within the One Nine Elms project, stating, “One Nine Elms is an exciting mixed-use hotel and residential project with Park Hyatt London River Thames being the crown jewel among its offerings. Positioned among London’s most iconic landmarks, the hotel itself is destined to become a landmark in its own right.”

The hotel’s wellness offerings set it apart in London’s luxury market. Rather than relegating wellness facilities to the basement, the Park Hyatt London has devoted an entire floor to fitness and relaxation, complete with panoramic river views. A state-of-the-art gym equipped with Technogym equipment and plenty of space for stretching and Pilates overlooks the surrounding area, which will soon include low-rise buildings designed to preserve views of the river. The spa offers an oasis of calm, with six treatment rooms where guests can indulge in a variety of treatments. After their sessions, guests can retreat to a relaxation lounge with floor-to-ceiling windows showcasing London’s skyline.

For those who prefer an active start to their day, the indoor swimming pool provides an inviting space to swim, complemented by a small Finnish-style sauna for a post-swim unwind. The hotel’s passion for wellness is underscored by the presence of two Somadome meditation pods, offering guests a quiet escape and a chance to recharge.

One of the hotel’s standout features is its impressive 14,337-square-foot event space, including one of London’s largest ballrooms. Capable of hosting up to 830 guests, the ballroom is expected to become a popular venue for both weddings and corporate gatherings. The Park Hyatt London River Thames captures the spirit of modern luxury and thoughtful design, making it an attractive choice for both leisure and business travellers. With its blend of British sophistication, artful decor, and top-tier service, it brings a fresh offering to London’s luxury hotel scene.
