Oberoi Hotels & Resorts will open its first UK property in Mayfair, London

Oberoi Hotels & Resorts is set to make its debut in the UK with the opening of The Oberoi, Mayfair, in London’s South Molton development. Situated at 40-46 Brook Street, this new property aims to become a landmark boutique hotel in one of London’s most prestigious districts. The hotel’s establishment comes as part of Grosvenor’s larger South Molton development, the West End’s most ambitious mixed-use project.
Planning permission for the 33,000 sq. ft Listed Building was granted in 2022, enabling a significant restoration that blends historic elegance with modern amenities. The overall South Molton project spans 267,000 sq. ft and is a collaboration between Grosvenor and Mitsui Fudosan UK. It will introduce new office spaces, housing, dining venues, shops, and community facilities, positioned to enhance the area’s vibrancy and economic footprint.
This development is projected to generate an estimated £6.5 million in annual spending and create 1,000 permanent jobs upon completion, alongside 450 roles and apprenticeships during construction. Groundbreaking began in November 2023, and the entire project is expected to be completed by the end of 2027. For travellers from India, The Oberoi, and Mayfair, will provide a sense of familiarity, bringing elements of home into the heart of London. This extension of the Oberoi brand into the UK highlights India’s evolving role in the luxury market, showcasing its expertise in combining elegance with warm, attentive service.

With this launch, The Oberoi Group joins other prominent Indian hospitality brands in London, such as Indian Hotels Co. Ltd., which operates the Taj hotels, and the Hinduja Group, which in 2023 partnered with Accor to transform Winston Churchill’s Old War Office into a Raffles hotel.
