Patricia Urquiola’s vision comes alive at Milan’s Casa Brera
Casa Brera, a Luxury Collection Hotel in Milan, blends Rationalist architecture with Patricia Urquiola's modern design, and award-winning dining. ShareCasa Brera, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Milan, stands as a remarkable example of Italian design and hospitality. Located in Piazzetta Bossi, it offers an immersive experience just steps from Teatro alla Scala and the cultural richness of the Brera district. Having joined The Luxury Collection brand in January 2025, the property embodies a meticulous blend of Milanese heritage and modern sophistication, brought to life by architect Patricia Urquiola.
The building, originally a Rationalist structure designed by Pietro Lingeri in the 1950s, has been thoughtfully transformed while respecting its architectural roots. Urquiola’s vision enhances its geometric lines and introduces a fresh interior palette that resonates with Milan’s design ethos. Every space within Casa Brera reflects the artistry of Italian craftsmanship, with marble floors, textured walls, and bold furnishings that balance elegance and creativity.
Urquiola’s approach ensures that the interiors and exteriors communicate harmoniously. The lobby and Living lounge showcase this balance, with checkerboard patterns echoing the building’s Rationalist façade. Custom furniture, designed by Urquiola for brands like Cassina and Moroso, adds character to these spaces. A central piece by fashion photographer Tim Walker graces the lounge, celebrating Milan’s prominence in the worlds of fashion, design, and art.
Throughout the property, Italian marbles and carefully chosen finishes tie the design together. The interiors radiate warmth, with curved sofas, leather stools, and jewel-toned armchairs creating an inviting atmosphere. Every corner feels intentional, from the gleaming mirror ceilings to the granite elements that nod to the building’s original façade.
Casa Brera’s 101 rooms and 15 suites are designed to embody Milan’s artistic and cultural identity. Materials such as Fior di Pesco marble and walnut wood are paired with custom furnishings to create a refined ambiance. Each room feels like a private gallery, with carefully selected artworks and thoughtful design elements that reflect the city’s character.
The Deluxe and Premiere rooms feature modular furniture and comfortable layouts, while the Studio with Balcony provides a balance of indoor and outdoor space. Junior Suites take the experience further, offering private terraces and elegant lounge areas.
The Brera Suite stands out with its spacious design and a 121-square-meter terrace overlooking the lively streets below. A vibrant blue sofa anchors the lounge, while floor-to-ceiling glass doors connect the indoor and outdoor areas seamlessly. For those seeking ultimate comfort, the Presidential Milanese Suite combines expansive terraces with an elegant living room, complete with a dining space and luxurious en-suite facilities.
The hotel’s dining spaces have been curated to showcase the expertise of two renowned chefs. Andrea Berton brings his celebrated touch to the Living lounge, Scena restaurant, and Etereo skybar, while Haruo Ichikawa introduces his mastery of Japanese cuisine at Odachi.
