Robert De Niro is continuing his long-standing connection to the hospitality industry with the launch of an exclusive luxury inn in the Caribbean. Nobu Beach Inn, slated to open in 2025, is set to be the newest addition to the Nobu Hospitality brand.

De Niro, already a seasoned presence in the hospitality world, recently debuted his second Locanda Verde restaurant in New York City. Now, he’s expanding his portfolio to the tranquil shores of Barbuda with Nobu Beach Inn. This new venture is being developed on the site of the former K Club resort, which was famously a favourite getaway for Princess Diana. The property has already made its mark with the opening of a Nobu restaurant in 2020. The restaurant marked the first phase of De Niro’s involvement in Barbuda, serving day-trippers from neighbouring islands.

Nobu Beach Inn will feature 17 bungalows, providing a total of 36 bedrooms for guests to book. Starting at $2,500 per night, these one-bedroom options offer luxury and privacy in an idyllic setting. For those looking for even more exclusivity, the property includes 25 privately owned beachfront villas. These villas, available for purchase starting at $12 million, range from 4,500 to 6,000 square feet. Each villa will come with 24 feet of private landscaping on both sides to ensure seclusion, along with private swimming pools and dedicated staff members for personalized service.

De Niro’s hospitality empire stretches back decades. Alongside renowned Japanese chef Nobu Matsuhisa and film producer Meir Teper, De Niro co-founded Nobu Hospitality in 1994. Since then, the brand has become a global powerhouse, encompassing 42 hotels, 12 residential developments, and 56 restaurants worldwide, including several projects currently in development. Nobu Beach Inn, however, holds special significance for De Niro. It is the only property in which he holds a direct ownership stake through his Paradise Found Barbuda LLC.

This particular venture dates back to 2015, when De Niro partnered with Australian billionaire James Packer and hotelier Daniel Shamoon to acquire the site. The team secured a 99-year lease for the 392-acre property for $5.2 million, aiming to transform it into a destination that blends luxury, privacy, and world-class amenities.

The Nobu Beach Inn is meant to be upscale yet homey, understated yet exclusive, geared towards the sort of people who “don’t want to feel that they’re surrounded by other people”, said Mr Daniel Shamoon, Paradise Found Barbuda’s managing partner.

While much of the property will be new construction, the developers are mindful of Barbuda’s heritage and natural beauty. The design incorporates expansive beachfronts, lush landscaping, and an overall aesthetic that feels harmonious with the surrounding island. Guests can expect a peaceful escape with access to top-tier amenities, impeccable service, and a chance to experience the renowned Nobu culinary brand.
