Seasonal Wellness Awaits at Six Senses RiverStone Estate in Pennsylvania
Six Senses RiverStone Estate, opening in 2028, will offer a wellness-focused resort and branded residences on a 1,200-acre historic estate in Pennsylvania's Allegheny River Valley. ShareSet against the backdrop of Pennsylvania’s Allegheny River Valley, where the serenity of two converging rivers meets vast woodlands, Six Senses RiverStone Estate is all set to promise a retreat that weds luxury and wellness. This historic country estate, set on 1,200 acres of pristine natural beauty, is the latest jewel in the Six Senses portfolio, marking its thoughtful and long-anticipated entry into the American market.
Located near the quaint town of Foxburg and just 90 minutes from Pittsburgh, this estate is both an escape and a gateway, offering easy access to private airports and nearby cities like Cleveland, Chicago, and New York. At the heart of the property stands a meticulously restored, three-story stone mansion, originally constructed in the 1820s as a summer retreat for the descendants of George Fox, the estate’s namesake. This mansion, alongside a Victorian carriage house designed by famed architect Frank Furness, will serve as the centerpiece of the resort, linking the estate’s storied past with Six Senses’ forward-thinking vision.
The estate’s 77 guest rooms and 40 branded residences are woven into the natural landscape, embracing the contours of the forested ridge and riverbanks. These accommodations, from secluded cottages to luxurious private homes, offer both modern amenities and an off-grid, tranquil atmosphere. Every detail reflects the Six Senses commitment to sustainability, while also providing the highest standard of comfort, ensuring guests can fully disconnect from the everyday and reconnect with nature.
The estate’s equestrian center will provide a further connection to its heritage, offering an impressive 22,000-square-foot indoor riding arena and 36 horse stalls with heated floors. Equine therapy programs will be available, and residential owners will have the opportunity to board their horses year-round. In addition to the horses, the estate will be home to cows, goats, sheep, donkeys, and a chicken chalet, where fresh eggs will be gathered daily.
Dining at Six Senses RiverStone Estate will embrace the brand’s “Eat with Six Senses” philosophy, focusing on locally sourced, organic ingredients. The on-site farm-to-table dining experiences will include a speciality restaurant, tasting bars, and Orchard Alley, a seasonal pop-up showcasing the estate’s culinary offerings. Guests can also enjoy fresh maple syrup from the estate’s 5,000+ maple trees, along with house-made ice cream and other farm-fresh delights.
The estate’s immersive wellness offerings include a 16,000-square-foot Six Senses Spa set within the restored stone walls of the Fox family’s historic English garden. This spa will integrate state-of-the-art technology with nature-inspired therapies, offering yoga, Pilates, meditation, and other wellness classes amidst breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. As the day gives way to night, guests can unwind with curated cocktails while stargazing under the guidance of an astronomer. For those seeking physical activity, the estate will offer a 25-meter pool and a fully equipped fitness center, designed to support everything from injury recovery to mental focus. Additionally, over 50 miles of trails will invite guests to explore the natural surroundings through hiking, biking, and foraging, reinforcing the estate’s connection to nature.
Six Senses RiverStone Estate will also nurture creativity through an artist-in-residence program and curated art galleries. Led by globally recognized artists and thought leaders, these spaces will encourage guests to engage in artistic exploration and discovery. Guided by the vision of owners Saji Daniel and Shannon McGauley Daniel, the project will be realized by a world-class team, including Olson Kundig for architecture and Michaelis Boyd and Charles & Co for interiors. Landscape architects RIOS, along with Biohabitats and Kimley-Horn, will ensure the preservation and enhancement of the estate’s natural beauty, incorporating sustainable design principles that reflect Six Senses’ environmental ethos.
This venture is part of Six Senses’ broader expansion into the United States, which includes other highly anticipated developments in Telluride, Napa, and South Carolina. Following the recent opening of Six Senses La Sagesse in Grenada, the brand’s continued growth will see projects in Grand Bahama and Mexico’s Pacific coast, as well.
