Tucked away on the quiet, unspoiled island of Comino, stepping into Six Senses Comino will soon become an experience synonymous with an unparalleled escape into Mediterranean paradise. This Mediterranean getaway, set between two stunning bays, promises an immersive experience focused on family, wellness, and sustainability.

Comino, located between Malta and Gozo, is renowned for its rugged cliffs, vibrant wildflowers, and crystal-clear turquoise waters, including the well-known Blue Lagoon. The island is a protected Natura 2000 site, making it a sanctuary for migratory birds and marine life. While Malta’s rich 7,000-year history reflects its strategic significance throughout the ages, Comino itself has a quieter past, once serving as a refuge for knights and scholars. Today, the island offers visitors a peaceful escape, far removed from the bustling pace of modern life.

Six Senses Comino will be situated on the shores of San Niklaw and San Marija bays, both offering stunning sunrise views and connected by a scenic coastal path. The development will fully rebuild the site within the footprint of existing structures, using construction methods designed to minimise environmental impact.

“Six Senses Comino is an invitation to guests with a deep understanding and appreciation of the value of preservation and who are seeking mindful serenity,” explains Neil Jacobs, CEO of Six Senses. “We’re doing something unique within the Maltese hospitality landscape, which is to create a sumptuous and sustainable lifestyle resort on a reduced footprint to make way for new trees and shrubs and, therefore, a thriving environment for new guests and returning wildlife.”

The resort, designed by Belvedere Architecture, will feature 71 low-rise suites. These accommodations will overlook the bay and offer views of the Mediterranean Sea. Using natural materials such as stone and timber, the design integrates with the island’s landscape, creating an organic connection between the resort and the surrounding environment. Spacious and comfortable, each suite will offer private decks, blending indoor and outdoor living. Upper-floor terraces will provide dual-aspect views, allowing guests to enjoy the sunrise and sunset, while ground-floor suites will feature private infinity pools that mirror the natural rock pools of the island.

Guests will have exclusive access to San Niklaw Bay, along with a communal pool and deck area serviced by a bar and grill. The resort’s signature restaurant will focus on farm-to-table dining, with produce sourced from local Maltese farms. For families, the Grow With Six Senses program will offer wellness-focused activities for children and teens, allowing parents to relax while their children engage in educational and fun activities.

The resort will also house a 1,000-square-meter Six Senses Spa, which will offer treatments inspired by local traditions, longevity therapies, and personalised wellness programs. Additionally, the resort will host retreats led by experts and community leaders, offering guests opportunities for emotional, physical, and spiritual healing, with the island’s natural beauty serving as a serene backdrop for these experiences.

A collection of 19 standalone retreats will line the shoreline of Santa Marija Bay, each designed with green roofing to blend with the natural surroundings. These retreats, offering two to four bedrooms, will be built to follow the island’s natural terrain. Each retreat will feature a private garden and pool, ensuring a secluded experience for guests. In addition to access to all resort facilities, guests staying in the retreats will enjoy the privacy and exclusivity of a separate clubhouse with its own restaurant and piazza overlooking the bay.

Melo Hili, CEO of Hili Ventures, emphasised the importance of partnering with a brand like Six Senses. “As one of the world’s leading hotel brands in sustainable tourism, Six Senses is the right match for the new property, and indeed for Comino,” Hili explained. “HV Hospitality has invested heavily in the design of a conscientious vision for the property, and we are delighted to entrust Six Senses with its management on completion.”

Six Senses Comino will be easily accessible from Malta, with direct flights from European cities to Malta International Airport, followed by a short boat ride to Comino from the Ċirkewwa Harbor. The resort is expected to open in 2027, providing a unique island retreat that blends sustainability, luxury, and wellness.
